Work and Live as an Assistant
Through friendship and relationships with people with diverse abilities and other team members, Assistants gain valuable life skills and opportunities for personal growth and leadership.
More than a job, L’Arche offers an exceptional and life changing adventure in friendship, self-discovery, and faith.
Assistants share their lives with people who are less autonomous. Days are filled with daily tasks – meals, bathing, household chores, shopping, accompanying people to the doctor or the dentist – and regular community meetings and events.
You will learn new skills and you will discover the extraordinary gifts of ordinary people. Each year, we welcome assistants to join our community, usually for a one-year commitment.
Learn more about L’Arche and becoming an Assistant. Application to be a live-in assistant is available online at the L’Arche Canada website.
Make a Difference
L’Arche Comox Valley makes a long-term commitment to those who make their homes in our community. Planning to provide for the current and complex changing needs of our community members is essential.
Make a one time gift, join our Monthly Giving Program, talk to us about planned giving, or give a gift in memory or in celebration.
L’Arche Comox Valley is a registered charity. For donations of $20 and over, we issue charitable donation tax receipts in January each year.

Art as a process
Every winter L’Arche Comox Valley holds a series of art workshops called, “The Art of Belonging.”
L'ArcheWorx Collective
The Collective provides adults with diverse abilities with the opportunity to build their skills and express their creativity by making craft products for sale. Profits are divided among the participants in the Collective based on the number of hours they work.
- Recycled wax candles, beeswax candles, and seasonal Advent sets
- Five flavours in large and small sizes. Delicious and healthy options for lunch or dinner.
- Made with art produced in the L’Arche Worx studio. These beautiful stationery items celebrate the gifts of adults in our creative arts classes
